We recorded this earlier this morning, so it doesn’t have anything from Friday’s day game in Detroit, but still plenty Red Sox-related items to get to. On Episode 79 of the Section 10 Podcast, we’re talking about that Chris Sale guy. He’s on the Red Sox, and he made his debut at Fenway Park earlier this week. We’re a little excited about it. But beyond that, we talked about Opening Day and there being sort of a lack of buildup leading up to the game and why that might be. We also discussed David Ortiz’s absence from the Opening Day ceremony and why that was probably a good idea.

Other topics discussed — the reaction that Pablo Sandoval got from fans at Fenway on Opening Day, how Sandoval is already shaky defensively at third base, how I want to be better about not looking at my phone every two seconds during Red Sox games this season, Dave Dombrowski’s fingerprints on this 2017 Red Sox roster, and a passionate Sandy Leon Vs. Christian Vazquez discussion.

I also put White Sox fans in the bathroom this week for being super sensitive and misinterpreting what I meant when I wrote that Chris Sale is the real motherfuckin’ deal, and our Down in the DM segment includes a discussion on Xander Bogaerts’ spot in the batting order, and why Jess Moran hasn’t reappeared anywhere in the media landscape here in Boston since her relationship with John Farrell was outed by the Boston Globe.
